My approach

Coaches know that the answer is typically within you. It’s our job to help you uncover and see clearly what you already want to do, or what you already know is right.

Mentors know that their experience counts. They sometimes offer their advice or perspective when their experience is relevant. They offer it with an open hand and an open mind.

I emphasize coaching and questioning first and foremost, but I draw on my experience if the situation warrants it. If I’m coaching a new mom, I’m not going to pretend I haven’t been a new mom. If I’m coaching someone who is just starting their career, I’m not going to pretend I haven’t had that experience. I lead with questions, but I use my experience as a tool to help you figure out your own path.

I coach like a trusted friend. It’s the only way I know how to be.
